Since Jane Bohan opened her studio in 1983, all jewelry has been manufactured in NYC by master jewelers.

To the very best of our knowledge, the diamonds, gemstones and gold that we use come from reputable companies that supply ethically sourced and environmentally responsible materials.

To order any of the jewelry on this site, contact us by email or phone at 212.529.6090. We accept most major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Jane Bohan jewelry is also available at specialty shops across the country; check our store directory to visit the one nearest to you.

availability

Every piece of jewelry we offer is an original creation. Due to the rarity and unique quality of gemstones and pearls, some pieces may be limited edition items. Also, as your jewelry will be handcrafted, please allow up to four weeks for delivery.

packaging & shipping

Each item will arrive beautifully packaged in a gift box and soft pouch for storage.

Orders can be shipped via UPS Ground, 2-Day Air or Overnight Delivery to destinations within the United States (does not include Saturday delivery unless requested; additional charges apply).  Shipping and handling charges are calculated based on delivery method, weight and insurance value. For orders shipped within New York State, a sales tax of 8.875% will apply. Please note that we cannot deliver to P.O. boxes.

returns

If for any reason you are not satisfied, we accept returns of unused, undamaged merchandise for a refund within 14 days of receipt, provided the merchandise is accompanied by your original receipt. However, custom orders which include design variations and ring sizings are nonrefundable and nonreturnable.

Returned items must be in new condition and shipped prepaid. Jane Bohan Inc is not responsible for loss or damage of returned items; please package securely and insure accordingly. Once the returned item is received, we will provide a credit for the amount of the item, minus any original shipping charges. custom orders

If you decide to order a custom-made ring, necklace, bracelet or other treasure, you can expect an exquisitely designed and meticulously handcrafted piece of jewelry. You'll be able to select the materials that inspire you most, starting with 18K yellow, white or rose gold as well as platinum, or a style that merges sterling silver and gold. Then choose from a wonderful array of gemstones and colored pearls, and Jane will create a piece of jewelry that is all your own.

Custom orders include ring sizing and any designs that differ from those shown on this website. Upon placement of your custom order, a deposit of 50% of the total purchase price will be charged to your credit card. The balance plus shipping and insurance will be charged upon shipment of your jewelry. Please note that all custom orders are nonrefundable and nonreturnable. Custom ring sizing and made-to-order pieces may take up to eight weeks.

resizings & repairs

If your jewelry requires any periodic refurbishment, whether resizing, repairing or restringing, we highly recommend that you send it to us, as special techniques are used to craft Jane Bohan jewelry and achieve our signature look.

jewelry cleaning & care

We recommend storing your jewelry in the pouch provided, as this protects the finish from any unwanted scratches. After wearing for several weeks or months, jewelry develops a patina unique to the wearer. While not necessary, it is possible to periodically refinish your Jane Bohan Jewelry. A soft toothbrush and solution of one cup of warm water and a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid takes care of most dirt and oils.

Soak your jewelry in the water/soap solution and gently brush the front and back of it with a soft toothbrush. Rinse well under warm water. (Be sure to cover the drain in case you accidentally drop your jewelry.) Dry both the front and back with a clean, absorbent cloth.

basic do's & don'ts

Do not wear your jewelry when swimming, as chlorine is corrosive to precious metals. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners or leave their use to a professional jeweler, since some stones can shatter when cleaned ultrasonically. Avoid exposing your jewelry to lotions, sunscreen, perfume, hairspray, makeup, harsh cleaning solutions and other chemicals. As a preventive measure, remove rings when gardening, rock climbing, weight lifting or engaging in any activity that involves pressure on your hands.

necklaces & bracelets

Jane Bohan necklaces and bracelets are strung on natural silk or nylon thread. Keep in mind that submerging strung necklaces and bracelets in liquid will result in damage to these threads. Pearls, exotic woods and some gemstone beads are more porous than metal, and perfumes, lotions, hairspray, soaps and makeup can affect their natural beauty. To ensure their luster, periodically clean by gently rolling back and forth on a barely damp cloth. Store in the pouch or box provided for added protection.

rings

While your ring is crafted for durability and strength, misuse can greatly affect its life span. Never wear your ring while lifting weights, rock climbing or engaging in activities that involve pressure on your hands. Daily living is not only hard on your hands, but on your jewelry as well. Never wear your ring while swimming, as chlorine is corrosive to precious metals. A ring that has small diamonds or other gemstones requires more maintenance. If your ring experiences a serious blow, gently tap the top of each stone to ensure that it's secure. If the stone moves or makes a tapping or clicking noise, do not wear the ring until it is examined by a jeweler.

To clean your ring: 1) Soak for thirty minutes in a small bowl filled with warm water and a mild soap. 2) Remove the ring from the solution and gently brush around the front and back of the mounting with a soft toothbrush. 3) Dip the ring into the solution a second time, then rinse in warm running water. (Cover the drain to prevent your ring from accidentally dropping into it.) 4) Set to dry on an absorbent cloth, or pat dry.

oxidized silver

Applied patinas such as oxidation or antiquing, while durable, are surface treatments. Keep in mind that exposure to skin acidity, perfumes, lotions, sunscreen and cleaning solutions can affect the patina of oxidized silver.
